In recent years, more and more ball screws have been used in various machines to meet the needs of high-precision and high-performance equipment; Ball screw has become one of the most widely used rotating components. In NCN's machinery, increasing the positioning accuracy of ball screws can prolong their service life. In traditional machinery, ball screws have also gradually replaced Akema screws. Ball screws are usually equipped with pre pressure to eliminate back clearance during mechanical operation, but if the ball screw is not installed properly and runs smoothly, it cannot demonstrate its high accuracy and long lifespan.
1、 Improper installation of bearings:
(1) The surface of the screw or nut bead is rough;
(2) The true roundness of steel balls, screws, or nuts exceeds the tolerance range;
(3) The lead error or pitch diameter of the screw or nut exceeds the tolerance range;
(4) Improper assembly of the return pipe;
(5) Uneven size or hardness of steel balls;
2、 Other foreign objects entering the steel ball track:
(1) Packaging materials and debris blocking the track: When shipping, many packaging materials and anti laying bags are used to package ball nuts and screws. If the appropriate standard procedures are not followed when packaging or arranging steel balls, foreign objects or other debris may block the steel ball track, causing the steel balls to slide instead of normal operation or even get stuck;
(2) When machining debris into the track, if the ball screw is not equipped with a scraper during installation, the processed debris and dust can easily accumulate and block the steel ball track, resulting in poor smoothness, reduced accuracy, or reduced service life.
3、 Over stroke: Over stroke can cause damage, depression, or even fracture of the return pipe, resulting in the inability of the steel ball to operate normally. Under such harsh conditions, it may cause the surface of the screw or nut bead to peel off. The problem of overtravel is most likely to occur in the setting of the machine, the failure of the Limit switch or damage. To prevent further damage to the ball screw, the ball screw must be tested and repaired by the manufacturer before reinstalling it.
4、 Damaged return pipe: If the return pipe is severely impacted during installation, it may cause dents or the aforementioned problems.
5、 Eccentricity: If the nut seat and bearing seat are not concentric, a radial load will be generated. If the deviation between the two is too large, it will cause the screw to bend. Usually, if the eccentricity is not very severe, it will not cause obvious bending, but abnormal wear still continues to occur, causing a decrease in screw accuracy and speed. The higher the pre pressure set on the nut, the higher the requirement for eccentric accuracy.
6、 Improper combination of nut and nut seat: tilting or eccentricity during nut installation can cause abnormal loads, causing voltage instability during motor operation.
7、 Damage to the ball screw during handling.
